Commuter Service Update – Nov. 2020
Our commuter service remains suspended due the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, Mayo Clinic has announced the discontinuation of the commuter bus subsidy, which means commuter service would only be available at our full fares.
We are now working to restore commuter service to Rochester. Our research has shown that despite higher fares and more people working from home, there is still a need and desire for commuter bus service to Rochester.
We are exploring new possible stops in Adams and Spring Valley, in addition to our existing stops in Le Roy, Chester and Grand Meadow. Many options are on the table. However, due to the large planning needs and the current surge of COVID-19, it is unlikely that service will return before the end of the year.
Until then, we’d like to hear from you. If you are interested in commuter bus service, contact us at email@example.com and tell us (1) how often you would ride, (2) which pick-up location you would use and (3) your preferred AM arrival time and PM departure time in Rochester. If you have already responded to these questions through our recent surveys or Facebook, you don’t need to respond.
Thank you for your patience, as we navigate this new world. We hope to see you on board again soon.
Changes to commuter service schedule, beg. Feb. 3
We are making some tweaks to our commuter service schedule, beginning Monday, Feb. 3. Our fourth morning route will be discontinued due to very low ridership.
We will also add a new stop in Grand Meadow on our earliest morning route at 5:36 a.m. Lastly, we are pushing back our afternoon departures by a few minutes to accommodate frequent delays we have experienced on Second Street Southwest in Rochester during rush hour.
These changes have already been communicated to our current riders and will be reflected on our website beginning Feb. 1.
Welcome, New Riders!
If you are new to our commuter service, you are eligible to receive a free 10-ride pass to get you started. Just talk to any of our drivers, identify yourself as a new rider, and you will receive your pass.

Reduced service over Christms, New Year’s Holidays
We will offer reduced commuter service over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. On Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, we will run two morning routes with Chester (Iowa) departures at 5:01/6:05 a.m., LeRoy departures at 5:13/6:18 a.m. and a Grand Meadow departure at 6:42 a.m. Due to Mayo Clinic closing at 3 p.m. on those days, we will run one afternoon route, departing Saint Marys at 3:10 p.m. and downtown at 3:15 p.m. There will be no commuter service on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 Happy Holidays!
Mayo Clinic to Raise Commuter Bus Subsidy, Beg. Jan. 2, 2020
Mayo Clinic employees already enjoy a substantial discount when using LeRoy City Lines. Mayo recently announced it will significantly raise the commuter bus subsidy by paying 65% of each bus fare, effective Jan. 2, 2020.
New Routes, Schedules Beginning Dec. 2
After collecting feedback from riders and non-riders over several months, we are launching new commuter routes and schedules beginning Dec. 2. We will add two additional routes to Rochester in the morning and one additional route to Grand Meadow, LeRoy and Chester in the afternoon. We will operate these routes guaranteed through April 30, 2020. Come spring, we will evaluate each route to decide whether these new schedules are sustainable.
